Lawrence Jones, a former Interim Head of

Digital Marketing at Pepperstone, has joined Oval Money, operator of OvalX, a UK-headquartered derviates trading firm, as Head of Digital

Acquisition.

Jones announced his appointment on Monday in an update on his LinkedIn profile.

"It's really exciting to be joining Oval Money at such a pivotal time with the merger and recent re-brand," Jones told Finance Magnates.

"The ability to offer such a full spectrum of financial products under one brand is a unique proposition and something that brings a number of opportunities for innovation," he added.

Before the appointment, Jones was the Head of Digital Media, Betfair International, an online betting exchange, for one and a half years.

While at Pepperstone, Jones worked at the London office of the Melbourne-based forex and contract for difference (CFD) broker.

However, he only worked there for three months between January and March 2021.

Meanwhile, Andrew Saks, the former Head of Research and Analysis at OvalX, last month joined The People’s SCE, a decentrally governed organization (DGO), as the Head of Marketing.

Saks departed his role at OvalX, which recently rebranded from ETX Capital, a year after starting out in April 2021.

Performance Marketing Leader

On his LinkedIn profile, Jones described himself as a “performance marketing leader with 10+ years of experience across agency & client side roles.”

Throughout his career of more than a decade, the executive noted that he has contributed to “building and developing high performing teams driving new client acquisition.”

However, Jones said his focus recently has been on “display (programmatic & direct) with experience across affiliates, paid social & paid search.”

Before Pepperstone, Jones worked at IG Group, an online trading provider, for nearly six years.

Prior to leaving IG Group in December 2020, the performance marketing leader served as the Global Head of Display and worked in the UK where he brought “two previously siloed regional teams together.”

Among other duties, he was tasked with driving the strategy, planning, activation and optimisation of all digital media in-house.

At IG Group, Jones started as a Senior Online Display Manager in March 2015, becoming the Head of Display for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) in October 2016, and the Head of Display & Marketing Partnerships EMEA in December 2017.

Before IG Group, he was a Senior Account Executive and later an Account Manager at Essence, an advertising services agency in the UK.

Between May 2013 and April 2014, he was YouTube's Media Coordinator for the EMEA region where he “oversaw all media in EMEA, working closely with the global media team to align strategy and execute media campaigns.”
