BitPay has partnered with international payment processing giant Adyen to enable bitcoin as a payment option for its supported clients. As explained by BitPay, the partnership gives the opportunity for some of the biggest companies in the world to accept bitcoin.
The first of Adyen's clients to enable the option was Jagex, a creator of mobile games including the popular RuneScape.
Adyen supports over 180 currencies and 250 payment methods, processing $25 billion in transactions last year. It started in 2006 and has since grown to over 190 employees serving over 3,500 clients.
In addition to facilitating the core function of Payments , the company provides insights into KPIs such as conversion metrics and shopper behavior on a site's checkout page. Its payment platform is certified PCI Level 1. Other tools include a Risk Management system which assesses a given transaction's fraud score, helping reduce the likelihood of chargebacks.
Bitcoin payment processors like BitPay and Coinbase have made a number of notable partnerships during the last year. On this integration, however, BitPay points out, "These are the types of integrations needed to advance bitcoin."
