Circle's App Recognized as Best in Class at Google I/O

Circle's Bitcoin wallet app was showcased as the only finance app awarded as "best in class" at this year's Google I/O.

Google I/O (input/output) is an annual conference in San Francisco featuring in-depth presentations on the applications of open web technologies for Google's platforms. This year, new Android and Chrome features were presented, and Internet of Things projects Brillo and Weave were unveiled.

Circle has been investing heavily in its mobile apps as it tries to lead the growing industry. The apps allow you to store bitcoin, send money to friends and pay for merchandise. Earlier this year, it added near field communications (NFC) support for its Android app, and made its iOS version available for Apple's Smartwatch.

Circle's app was recognized alongside Evernote, Tumblr, the New York Times, and BuzzFeed for their respective categories.

To celebrate the achievement and further promote its app, Circle is rewarding new users $5 of bitcoin for trying it out.
