ShapeShift, a service that allows users to instantly cross-convert over 40 Cryptocurrencies , has been integrated into the multi-sig Bitcoin wallet, BitGo. The firms explain that the ShapeShift API integration allows BitGo's wallet users to conveniently send or receive all leading cryptocurrencies without any need to leave the wallet.
Developed primarily as an API platform, ShapeShift has already been integrated into over 45 other services with partnerships throughout the Blockchain industry. It has raised a total of roughly $4.2 million to date, including $1.6 million in its round of funding in September 2015. BitGo has raised more than $14 million in financing to date and recently announced that it handles $1 billion of Bitcoin transactions per quarter.
“We're constantly impressed with the ShapeShift product for its speed and ease of use,” said BitGo CEO Mike Belshe. “BitGo customers can now instantly transfer their Bitcoin into any alt-currency with just a few clicks!”
The relationship between the two companies has already strengthened recently. ShapeShift previously integrated BitGo’s “Instant” feature to enable zero-confirm transactions from BitGo wallet users to ShapeShift. Erik Voorhees, CEO of Shapeshift, commented at the time: “BitGo Instant is fully open-access. Anyone using a BitGo Instant-capable wallet may send BitGo Instant transactions. Any business, whether using a BitGo wallet or not, may use BitGo’s API to safely receive BitGo Instant transactions.”
