Avra Hires Business Development Head for North America

Digital Currency Payments provider Avra has appointed a VP of Business Development for North America, Mark Petropolous.

Avra, according to its website, offers four types of services for the digital currency industry: news, payment solutions for merchants looking to accept Bitcoin , a solution specialized for the tourism industry and software to turn kiosks into bitcoin ATMs.

It is publicly traded on the OTC markets, currently valued at $22.6 million. The entity originally dealt in "Smart TV boxes" before its transformation into a digital currency business.

The company says it is experiencing a period of growth and has accordingly sought to create this role. Last month, it partnered with Mango Pay to enable bitcoin to its payment kiosks in the Dominican Republic. It also launched a partnership with digital currency gateway provider T2M International Inc. to help streamline bitcoin payments.

Petropolous reportedly has decades of experience in the payment processing and related financial industries. CEO Steve Shepherd said that his experience with payments, as well as with merchant acquisitions, make him well positioned to provide a strategic perspective for development in North America.
