Last year, MoonPay closed one of the biggest funding rounds in the history of the crypto ecosystem. The company secured $555 million in its Series A investment round. Yesterday, MoonPay revealed that more than 60 high-profile investors were a part of its Series A funding.
Celebrities like Justin Bieber, Gwyneth Paltrow, Gal Gadot, Bruce Willis, Ashton Kutcher and Diplo joined the round. In total, over 60 celebrities invested nearly $87 million in the crypto startup. With the latest funding, MoonPay aims to ‘transform’ industries through Web3 technology.
“Web3 is radically changing how we think about the creative value,” said MoonPay’s Co-Founder and CEO, Ivan Soto-Wright. “We're on the cusp of a creative crypto renaissance, and our strategic investors are helping to lead that movement. We're honored to work with them to help onboard the world to Web3.”
Last year, the crypto startup reached a valuation of $3.4 billion after its Series A funding round. The $555 million investment helped the company to form partnerships with some of the world’s leading platforms like OpenSea.
Web3
Emerging companies working in the Web3 ecosystem have secured significant funding in the past 12 months to expand their operations. Earlier this week, bloXroute, a DeFi and Web3 startup, raised $70 million in its Series B funding round led by SoftBank. According to MoonPay, artists and athletes will play a major role in the adoption of Web3-related technologies.
“The recent funding is part of our historic $555 million Series A financing round, which has helped us forge partnerships with leading organizations like OpenSea, Michael Jordan’s 'Heir Jordan', Tom Brady’s Autograph, and FaZe Clan. It has also allowed us to significantly grow our global footprint by launching products such as NFT Checkout, our NFT solution that allows users to purchase an NFT instantly with a credit or debit card, and MoonPay Concierge, which is helping high-profile individuals buy NFTs,” MoonPay added.
