Chain Debuts iOS Based Fingerprint Bitcoin Wallet

Chain.com, providers of Blockchain based API’s for developers has posted a video of its newest endeavor, a fingerprint based bitcoin wallet for Apple’s latest iOS 8 operating system which is currently still in beta. The video below is worth watching and shows off the system. The wallet Leverage ’s Apple’s Touch ID system, which authenticates private keys and security of the app using fingerprint recognition.

When Apple launched the Touch ID on the iPhone 5S last year, among prevalent theories of the direction Apple would take the product was that they would combine it with their Passport apps to create a secure payment system for iOS users. Overall, Chain’s bitcoin wallet is a step in this direction of providing a glimpse of where bitcoin based and mobile banking in general is moving towards.

Similar to their other projects, the wallet is an open-source initiative put available on GitHub where others can create their forked iterations of the bitcoin wallet.
