Circle has released a string of enhancements to its mobile offerings.
- Android users will now be able to transfer bitcoins through near field communication (NFC) technology. With NFC, transactions can be made between users without the Internet or even a wireless phone network. The feature was first introduced during last month's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
- On iOS, users will be able to transact right within the iOS notification center, where they can also check the Circle Bitcoin price and generate a QIR code.
- Also on iOS, bank accounts and credit cards can now be linked to the Circle account. Credit card information can also be uploaded by scanning the card with the device.
- Reminders can be sent to recipients who have yet to accept your Payments .
- Circle for Android Wear is now available.
Android Wear is Google's operating system for smartwatches and other wearables, launched last March. Circle becomes a rare wallet app offering to be made available on a wearable device. The Nymi wristband by Bionym, launched last year, offers similar functionality outside of the mobile app experience and is biometrically secured by your heartbeat.
In addition, Circle says to have fixed several reported bugs in its mobile offerings.
