Coinbase's mobile app, available for Android and iOS, is now available in eleven languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Russian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Chinese Traditional and Chinese Simplified.
The move comes as Coinbase looks to expand its presence beyond the US. Last year, it expanded its services to eighteen countries in Europe, leveraging the Single European Payments Area (SEPA), a payment integration initiative of the European Union that simplifies euro-denominated bank transfers.
The support for Russian is noteworthy considering that Russia is considering a ban on Bitcoin dealings.
Other updates to the mobile offering include:
- support for "bits" (one millionth of a bitcoin) as a unit of account
- an optimized app for Android tablets, with one for iOS coming soon.
- bug fixes
In the Google Play Store, Coinbase's app has an average rating of 4.4/5, based on the feedback of 5,240 users.
