Status Has Some Big News to Share at DevCon3

Status, a user-friendly mobile client that can be used to access the entire Ethereum network, is a new kid on the Blockchain , continually proving itself to be potential major player. A few months after an extremely successful SNT (Status Network Token) sale that raised over US$100 million in under three hours, Status will share three major announcements at DevCon3.

Along with the unveiling of a Status hardware wallet, the company has announced that it will welcome Nabil Naghdy of Google as its new COO. Additionally, Status has revealed the creation of the Status Open Bounty fund that will provide US$1 million to support promising open-source projects.

Status: The User-Friendly Gateway to the Ethereum Network

Status is designed to operate on mobile technology, and is the first ever Ethereum client to be created entirely on a peer-to-peer technological basis.

Ethereum’s integration of smart contracts into blockchain technology holds the potential to change the world’s financial, corporate, and legal systems (among many other things). However, crossing the threshold into the world of using Ethereum’s network practically is a process that requires a bit of technical know-how. Currently, the technical capabilities required to use the Ethereum network effectively are preventing many potential users from joining the network.

Status aims to change that. Status will be the first user-friendly platform that can be used to easily access the entire Ethereum network. In addition to acting as a platform for encrypted messaging and the creation and execution of smart contracts, Status will act as a sort of app store for Ethereum-based dapps (decentralized applications).

The Status hardware wallet, which is currently in beta, will grant its users the capability to store, send, and receive Cryptocurrencies in a contactless manner. The Status wallet will be compatible with virtually all cryptocurrencies, something unprecedented in the current hardware wallet space. The wallet is highly secure, with technology that isolates its owner’s private keys. Additionally, the wallet is open source, and its software can be customized to suit its user’s particular set of needs.

“Bringing Blockchain to the Mainstream”

The addition of Navil Naghdy is a very positive sign that Status is continuing to strive for growth down an innovative path. Naghdy is best known for his work leading the Google Maps and Google Flights projects. As Status moves closer to its launch, Naghdy will contribute his vast knowledge of user experience and operability to Status’s vision as an all-encompassing gateway to the Ethereum network.

Nabil has noted: “Status and the Ethereum ecosystem are at an inflection point… We’re leading the space and making headway in bringing blockchain to the mainstream.”

The Status Open Bounty fund will incentivize the creation and improvement of dapps on the Ethereum network. It is streamlined to provide payouts directly through GitHub, and is a very clear indicator that Status is walking the walk of its mission to create a decentralized internet. In the words of Carl Bennetts, Status co-founder: “Status is fully committed to making decentralization a reality.”
