Litecoin's Next Charity Drive: Vietnam

Following Litecoin's recent drive to create jobs for villagers in Madagascar through reforestation initiatives (a.k.a. the Eden project), they are now looking to team up with Vietnamese newspaper Thanh Nien for charitable causes in Vietnam.

A decision on who the beneficiaries will be is still in the works. Ideas thus far include sponsoring students for vocational training and Operation Smile, which is committed to repairing childhood facial deformities.

The initiative was born from an e-mail discussion between one of the Litecoin community members and a reporter for Thanh Nien News on the aforementioned Eden project. The reporter recommended teaming up with the paper for local causes to help get the Eden story approved for publication.

Currently, the donation target is $1000 but it appears this can change easily. While the scope appears smaller than the $10,000 for the Eden project or Dogecoin's $30,000 for the Jamaican Bobsled team, Litecoin members are still voicing support in the hope of gaining valuable recognition of the community's cause globally. These relatively small amounts, it can be argued, have gone a long way to make inroads into various communities, which is often the next best alternative for Cryptocurrencies looking to make their mark on a society while viewed upon with skeptisism by many in mainstream financial and governmental circles.

Litecoin can indeed use a boost as it struggles to right ship after charting off course relative to its crypto peers.
