Legendary skateboarder, Tony Hawk has jumped into the non-fungible token (NFT) mania and will be auctioning the video of his iconic ‘ollie 540’ stunt.

Hawk announced on Thursday that he will auction fresh footage of this stunt on Ethernity Chain, and it was the last time he performed this.

“In 1989 I started trying ollie 540’s as a joke since it seemed there was no way to keep a skateboard on your feet throughout 1 1/2 spins in the air. But, at some point I started scooping the tail with my back toe, which kept my feet in place for most of the spin,” Hawk explained on an Instagram post.

“...my willingness to slam unexpectedly into the flat bottom has waned greatly over the last decade. So, today I decided to do it one more time…and never again.”

Though the post did not reveal the date of the NFT auction, he hinted that it will be on the Blockchain in ‘the coming weeks.’

Known by his nickname ‘Birdman,’ Hawk is an American skateboarder and has pioneered many difficult tricks in his professional career.

The NFT Mania

The latest boom in the NFT world has equally attracted artists and other professionals to digitally sell their work and authenticate the transaction on the blockchain. The NFT space received a massive boost from the recent auction of Beeple’s art that was sold for $69 million.

The demand for NFT arts is so high that the traffic surge on OpenSea broke the website after the drop of BossLogic art on Ethernity Chain.

However, many are warning against this demand. Litecoin Founder, Charlie Lee even compared the NFTs to the 2017 Initial Coin Offering (ICO) ) bubble.
