ECOMMBX, an electronic money institution (EMI) has appointed Demetra Kalogerou, the former Chair of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC ) as the newest Member of its Board. Kalogerou served as CySEC's Chair between September 2011 and September 2021.

ECOMMBX announced Kalogerou’s appointment on Tuesday. Speaking of the former Chairwoman joining the EMI’s Board, George Papadopoulos, ECOMMBX’s Chairman, explained that Kalogerou’s commitment to innovation and excellence at the local and international level makes her an asset to the company.

“Apart from her relevant expertise and experience, throughout her career Ms Kalogerou has demonstrated values and principles that are fully aligned with our culture here at ECOMMBX,” Papadopoulos said.

In a post on LinkedIn, Kalagerou explained that she was joining the company’s Board because the EMI has “many prospects in the field of fintech banking.”

“The board and personel are very passionate and committed to their goals, something that I appreciate and I am fully aligned with,” the former CySEC's Chair wrote.

INX Digital Appoints Kalogerou as BoD Member

Kalogerou's new appointment comes less than a year after she joined INX Digital, a broker-dealer and owner of crypto trading platforms, as a Member of its Board of Directors (BoD). The ex-CySEC chair was appointed alongside Hilary Kramer, a founding member of the Wall Street Journal and an investment analyst and portfolio manager with over three decades of experience in Wall Street.

INX in a statement released last July explained that the appointment of both executives would help the company to bolster its strategies for building economic infrastructures and designing new digital financial solutions.

ECOMMBX, which was founded in 2016 in Nicosia, Cyprus, is authorized and licensed by the Central Bank of Cyprus. Additionally, the company provides payment services and specializes in issuing virtual international bank account numbers. In addition, ECOMMBX facilitates transfers via the systems of the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) and the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT).

Finance Magnates is making findings on Kalagerou’s new role at ECOMMBX and will update this story with more information soon.
