GCEX, a digital broker that provides a digital asset and forex platform to institutional and professional clients, has hired Maria Alberghini, a former Business Development Executive at Ebury, as its Sales Manager in Dubai. She joins GCEX after over a year of serving Ebury in Dubai.
GCEX, which disclosed Alberghini’s appointment on Thursday through LinkedIn, noted that the executive will work closely with Mehtap Önder, the Managing Director of Dubai, on the company’s strategic growth plans.
Alberghini brings about a decade of sales and business development experience to the new role. Before Ebury, she worked as a Global Business Development Executive at Limelight Networks between April 2019 and March 2021.
Between March 2018 and March 2019, she was the Business Development Manager at ITHR Telco, the specialist telecommunications recruitment arm of the ITHR Group. Earlier, she served the consultancy company, ESCAPE Networks, as a Business Development Executive for over two years.
In addition, Alberghini worked as a Sales Consultant at Vanquis Bank between April 2014 and January 2016, helping to sell banking products, such as credit cards and loans. Moreover, one of Alberghini's earliest roles was as an Assistant Director of Government Relations for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at ProMexico, the Mexican Government institution in charge of strengthening Mexico’s participation in the international economy.
GCEX Enhances Offerings and Teams
In recent months, GCEX has taken steps to boost its business. Earlier this month, the digital broker partnered with Komainu, a digital asset custody provider, to expand its custody services. Komainu is a joint company established by Nomura and two other leading digital assets firms.
In July last year, GCEX introduced round-the-clock forex trading to its institutional and professional clients. The service was mirrored after the company’s 24/7 cryptocurrency trading services.
In the same month, the company expanded into the Middle East and Africa (MENA) with the opening of a Dubai office and appointed Mehtap Önder as the Managing Director of GECX MENA. On top of that, it gained two Danish licenses in June 2022 to strengthen its operation in the European Union markets.
To strengthen its business, GCEX, in recent months, has made some new appointments, including Olivier Honsberger as a Member of the GCEX MENA Board, Marilu Revelli as the Marketing Director and Alex Iakobachvili as the Business Development VP.
