Binance.US, the US partner of the major cryptocurrency exchange Binance, announced on Thursday that it had hired Jasmine Lee as its new Chief Financial Officer.
According to Reuters, she is a former executive of PayPal Holdings who recently worked as the CFO and Chief Operating Officer of Acorns. Lee served in top executive roles for around eight years at the payments giant, PayPal.
“Jasmine is a rare talent who possesses more than 20 years of deep knowledge in both fintech and high-growth startup environments. Her experience at PayPal, a public Fortune 500 company, in particular, will be invaluable as we chart our path to an IPO in the coming years,” Brian Shroder, the CEO of Binance.US, highlighted in a statement.
Lee commented on her appointment at Binance.US: “I look forward to building out a best-in-class finance department at Binance.US that lays a strong foundation for continued growth and our path to a future IPO.” According to the Wall Street Journal, Lee replaces the interim CFO, Eric Segal, who left the company in October.
The company’s former chief executive, Brian Brooks resigned three months after taking over the position last year.
Binance.US in Puerto Rico
In April, Binance.US received a Money Transmitter License from the Puerto Rico Office of the Commissioner of Financial Institutions.
Currently, Binance.US holds a Money Transmitter License in four jurisdictions, including West Virginia, Connecticut, Wyoming and Puerto Rico.
During the past few months, the digital asset firm has significantly expanded across the region. With multiple licenses and fresh funding, Binance.US aims to enhance its product offering. In addition, the company highlighted the importance of education initiatives to increase awareness of digital assets. In the near term, Binance is planning to introduce a new suite of products and services.
