Nasdaq, Inc. (Nasdaq: NDAQ) announced on Thursday that it had appointed Johan Torgeby to its Board of Directors. According to the press release, Torgeby’s appointment expands the Board to 11 directors.
Since joining SEB from Morgan Stanley in 2009, Torgeby has held a variety of positions within the Large Corporates & Financial Institutions division before becoming its Co-Head and a member of the Group Executive Committee in 2014. As of 2017, he is the President and CEO of the company.
His educational background includes a degree in economics from Lund University, Sweden, executive positions at SEB, the Swedish Bankers’ Association, as well as Mölnlycke Holding AB.
“Johan’s extensive financial services and global leadership experience, with a particular focus on investor protection and risk management , will bring invaluable insight to the Nasdaq Board. Recently, Nasdaq appointed 10 Board Directors to exchanges in the United States. The appointed Board Directors include Kathlyn Beckles, the Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary at Verisk Analytics, an analytics and risk assessment firm; Tal Cohen, the Executive Vice President (EVP) and Head of North American Markets of NASDAQ Inc.; Michael Curran, the retired Chairman and CEO of Boston Stock Exchange; and Anne Darling, a Partner at Global Markets Division of Goldman Sachs, a leading global investment banking, securities and investment management firm.
