Johan Wiese, the IG Group’s Finance Chief Operating Officer (COO), has joined the online trading provider’s subsidiary, IG Markets South Africa (IGMSA), as a Director.
Wiese, who boasts of close to two decades of financial industry experience, was appointed Director on the 30th of last month, the firm's latest Companies House filing shows. A separate filing also discloses that IGMSA has terminated the appointment of Richard Heading as a Director at the firm.
According to Heading’s LinkedIn profile, he became the company's Group Finance Director in March of last year and has spent over four years at the London-headquartered brokerage. The executive previously spent over 15 years at the global professional services firm, Willis Towers Watson.
Meanwhile, Wiese's directorial appointment comes over four months after IGMSA selected Robert van Eyden, a veteran with almost three decades of financial industry experience, as its CEO. van Eyden joined the subsidiary from First National Bank South Africa where he was both the CEO and Chairperson.

A Long-Time IG Exec
In a career spanning about 17 years so far, Wiese has spent over 13 years at IG Group, having joined the brokerage in February 2009 as a Group Financial Account.
Over the years, Wiese has held several positions at IG Markets including Financial Controller for the UK and Europe and then later Financial Controller for the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa. In June 2015, he was appointed as the Head of Finance Projects and would later take on the role of Head of Finance Change.
Furthermore, Wiese served as IG Group’s Business Finance Controller for over a year between January 2020 and March 2021. Before joining IG Group, he spent a nine-month stint as an Accountant, Equity Research, at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (DrKW), the investment banking arm of Germany's Dresdner Bank AG.
On top of that, he was an Auditor for almost two years between March 2005 and December 2007 at Tenk Loubser and Associates Chartered Accountants, conducting extensive auditing and accounting for the South African firm.
Meanwhile, IG Group recently appointed Tobias Stöhr as its Head of Sales in Germany. Stöhr joined the broker from Spectrum Markets, an independent unit of the IG Group. Furthermore, the Group recently tapped Glen Hastings, the former FX Institutional Liquidity Manager at Price Markets UK, to lead its institutional sales efforts.
