New York-based asset management firm AllianceBernstein has appointed Omar Rauf to the newly created role of UK Retail Sales Director, according to market sources.
AllianceBernstein has more than $500 billion in assets under management and a presence in 25 countries, with more than 3,700 employees worldwide.
The company is currently in the process of moving its headquarters to Nashville, Tennessee.
Based in London, Rauf will be responsible for developing the firm’s business in the UK wholesale market, reporting to the firm’s Head of UK Retail, Lee Matthews.
Matthews moved to AllianceBernstein from Aberdeen Asset Management in 2018.
Rauf brings ten years of asset management experience to his new role. His career began at Aberdeen Standard Investments in 2010.
He served as a Business Development Manager, UK and Switzerland, in London and Zurich before moving to Rotterdam-headquartered asset manager Robeco’s London office four years later.
Rauf worked as a Sales Manager, Global Financial Institutions, UK and Ireland Business Development at the firm for five years prior to joining AllianceBernstein.
Expanding in Germany
In January this year, AllianceBernstein made two senior appointments in Germany.
The firm promoted Alexander Hoffman to the role of Head of Global Financial Intermediaries and appointed Markus Rottler as Sales Director for Germany, Switzerland and Austria (DACH).
Hoffmann has over 25 years industry experience and was previously Head of Banks and Financial Institutions for Switzerland at Pioneer Investments, now part of Amundi. He moved to AllianceBernstein as Director for the DACH region in 2014.
Rottler fills Hoffmann’s previous Sales Director role for DACH and focuses on the wholesale market.
