Barclays Plc has appointed Alex Aram as its newest Head of Credit Trading for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) ) region, according to a recent Reuters report.

In his new role as the Head of Credit Trading – APAC at Barclays, Mr. Aram will be tasked with managing the bank’s regional credit business, including the new consolidation of the distressed debt and high Yield debt. He will also be based out of Barclays’ Tokyo office, where he will be working alongside Ellis Thomas, the group’s Singapore-based Head of Credit Sales – APAC, to manage the credit business in the region.

Mr. Aram’s promotion comes after a successful seven-year stint with Barclays dating back to 2008. During this time, he has worked with an exclusive focus on distressed debt, which was instrumental in helping pave the way for his recent elevation.

Prior to Barclays, Mr. Aram worked at a number of leading investment institutions and banks, including Bear Sterns and Morgan Stanley, part of a nearly two-decade long career. In these companies he held senior roles in structured credit trading and derivatives, according to information made public on his LinkedIn profile.

Last month, Barclays Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Antony Jenkins, parted ways with the bank, whereby appointing John McFarlane as its Executive Chairman to run the company until a new CEO is ultimately selected.
