Barclays Plc has appointed veteran financial services specialist, Diane Schueneman as its newest non-executive director, whose term of office is effective immediately, according to an ICAP statement.

Ms. Schueneman joins Barclays after a lengthy career at Bank of America Merrill Lynch spanning 37 years. Across nearly four decades at the lender, Ms. Schueneman worked in a number of senior level roles, including positions in its banking, brokerage services and technology services, namely as its Senior Vice President & Head of Global Infrastructure Solutions.

In addition to her newest appointment, Ms. Schueneman is also presently working as its non-executive Director of ICAP Plc, having received a mandate in 2010. She is also an acting member of the Audit, Risk, Nomination and Remuneration Committees.

Ms. Schueneman previously served as an independent consultant to the US Internal Revenue Service Commissioner for McKinsey & Company before starting at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in 1971 until 2008. She has also been a mainstay on a number of not-for-profit boards, including Year Up and National Cooperative Cancer Network Foundation, along with an advisory role on the board of United Bank for Africa Group – New York Branch.

Last month, Barclays lost its Head of FX, Adrian McGowan, who parted ways with the bank to pursue his own interests. Sources close to the matter confirmed to Finance Magnates' reporters that the move was not related to the bank’s foreign Exchange (FX) investigations.
