Barclays Picks Arif Vohra as Co-Head of FIG in EMEA

LSE-listed financial services giant, Barclays recently announced the expansion of its team with the hiring of Arif Vohra, an industry veteran with almost 25 years of experience in the financial sector, as the Co-Head of Investment Banking Financial Institutions Group (FIG) in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Vohra, who will join the bank in September, will co-lead the business with Enrique Pinel. In his new role, the newly selected Co-Head of FIG will report to Tim Main. Vohra will also work closely with Gary Antenberg, the Head of FIG Americas, to accelerate the expansion of Barclays.

In his broad career, Vohra served in different senior-level positions with some of the top names in the global financial services sector. Vohra joins Barclays from Bank of America where he recently co-led the FIG investment banking business of the company in EMEA.

“Arif is a highly respected FIG banker and a strong leader who understands the power of delivering the whole firm to clients,” said Main. “The strength and breadth of his expertise will bring considerable value to our clients across the region as we look to build on the momentum we have and further grow our FIG business.”

Barclays is planning to utilize Vohra’s deep expertise in investment banking to drive its growth plans related to FIG in the EMEA region. In a recent press release, Barclays highlighted the importance of FIG in its European expansion plans.

“FIG is an important focus in building the success of our Investment Banking franchise in Continental Europe,” said Reid Marsh, the Head of Investment Banking, Europe and the Middle East. “Arif joining our team is a demonstration of our continued investment to further strengthen our European banking capabilities.”

In May 2022, Hossein Zaimi joined Barclays as Head of Markets for the Asia Pacific region.
