BCS Global Markets Recruits Ravi Kotecha as New Head of Treasury

BCS Global Markets announced that it has recruited Ravi Kotecha as its new Head of Treasury, effective immediately.

In a press release shared with Finance Magnates, Ravi Kotecha, an executive financial veteran with trading experience in developed and emerging markets in London, Zurich and Moscow, has been named by BCS Global Markets, the investment banking services division of Russia’s largest independent broker, as its new Head of Treasury.

Kotecha brings a number of years of proven experience to the role in trading a variety of products and markets. He will be in charge of developing and implementing an integrated Treasury function for BCS Prime Brokerage. His experience and expertise are considered to represent a great asset to BCS Global Markets.

Looking Back at Kotecha’s Experience

Prior to the announcement, Kotecha served Bloomberg by working in the area of Emerging Markets for Rates & Fixed Income for one year. Part of his responsibilities included understanding and enhancing existing and prospective clients' workflows in Fixed Income and Interest Rate Derivative markets, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Before working at Bloomberg, Sberbank CIB hired Kotecha in the capacity of Executive Director for Securities Financing, Repo and Liquidity Trading. In Moscow, he was responsible for managing and pricing Liquidity risk within the Global Markets business. Additionally, he worked alongside Group Treasury to ensure all regulatory norms met standards as well as other duties.

Simultaneous to the role at Sberbank CIB, he spent three and a half years at Sberbank (Switzerland) AG as a Director of Global Markets Trading. In this capacity, he managed FX, IR and Liquidity risk and advised on the wider bank position.

Earlier in October 2009, Barclays Investment Bank sourced him out as its Vice President of Equity Finance & Synthetics Trading (Emerging Markets). His duties involved trading various financing products including stock loans, TRS, ATM synthetics, listed futures and CFDs within CEEMEA markets.

Also, at Nomura, Kotecha was an Associate Equity Finance Sales Trader. Located in London, he fulfilled his duties in sales and trading coverage of UK, German, Dutch, Austrian and Belgian markets. In addition, he re-established his Lehman Brothers 'client base to grab market share for Nomura as an alternative PB.

At Lehman Brothers, he began his career as an Associate Equity Finance Sales Trader in mid-2006.

An Encouraging Year for Growth

Kotecha has joined the ranks of BCS GM after completing a short stint at Bloomberg. Here, he led a team on enhancing existing and prospective clients' workflows in fixed income and interest rate derivative markets.

During his career, Kotecha has developed expert trading skills in fixed income and equity products across developed and emerging markets. Most recently, these markets include FX and Interest Rate products. Furthermore, he has recently honed his Fintech expertise by selling technological solutions to various interested parties.

Maxim Safonov, Co-CEO at BCS Global Markets, said: "Despite the difficulties brought on by the pandemic, it has been an encouraging year for growth at BCS GM. Our continuous investment in people and our team of experts is critical to our standing as Russia’s largest independent broker. Ravi has a proven track record of working in trading across a breadth of products and markets, so I am positive that he will provide invaluable support to the company’s business lines through Treasury services. In this context, Ravi’s experience and expertise represent a great asset to BCS GM and more importantly our clients.”
