bitFlyer Holdings, Inc., the parent company of the Tokyo-based cryptocurrency exchange bitFlyer, announced this Friday that it has made a series of director appointments to strengthen its corporate governance and management structure.

The appointments were made at a special assembly of shareholders, where a formal decision by the board of directors took place. Now, effective from today, the company has added new directors to its holding company and its cryptocurrency Exchange .

The appointees in question for bitFlyer holdings are Yoshio Hirako, who is now a representative director for bitFlyer holdings and Yuzo Kano, who was previously the representative director, has been named as a Director.

For its subsidiary, Yoshio Hirako has also been named as a representative director and Norio Takimoto is now a director of the exchange. According to the statement released today Hirako and Takimoto will both be continuing their current executive positions at MJS Finance & Technology, CO., LTD. and BREEZE Co., Ltd. respectively.

Hirako is a current director at MJS Finance & Technology, a position he has held since this year. Prior to this, he was a representative director since April 2018. Earlier in his career, Hirako worked at a number of banks such as AEON Bank, Sanwa Bank, and Saikyo Bank. He has been a professional in the financial industry for more than two decades.

Takimoto, on the other hand, is a representative director at BREEZE Co. Before this, he worked at Miroku Jyoho Service Co., Ltd., a provider of systems and services to accounting firms and their client companies, as well as small to medium-sized companies in Japan.

During his tenure with the company, which lasted from 11 years from April 2004 until April 2015, he held a number of roles including managing executive director, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Technology Officer (CTO). He originally started his career at Nomura Securities in 1988.
