Blueberry Markets’ New CFO

Blueberry Markets was launched in mid-2016 by Dean Hyde, a former executive of the local rival broker Axi (then AxiTrader). Hyde now holds the position of Managing Director at Blueberry Markets and worked with Fung for a brief period during his Axi days.

The broker offers more than 300 instruments to its clients and operates in Australia with an Australia Financial Services (AFS) license obtained from the local financial market supervisor, ASIC . For its global operations, it is operating with a license secured from the Vanuatu Financial Services Commission (VFSC).

A Finance Expert

Fung is a finance specialist and also a Partner of Sydney-based Abacus Advisory, a company that outsources CFO services. According to his Linkedin profile, he is continuing that role along with his position at Blueberry Markets. Initially, he joined Blueberry Markets on a contract but has now been onboarded by the company full-time.

On top of that, he has extensive experience working with brokerage offering retail margin trading services. His most highlighted role in the industry was his tenure at Axi which was almost six years long. He joined that broker in June 2015 as a Financial Controller and then received a promotion to become Head of Financial Planning Analysis. There, he held the Interim CFO and GM of Finance role and separated as the Head of Corporate Finance & Transformation.

After Axi, he joined Sydney-based financial services firm, HUB24, as the Head of Financial Control & Finance Change, which was a role he held for over a year. He started his career in early 2001 as a Senior Auditor for Ernst & Young and then moved to Barclays Capital. In between his two tenures at Barclays Capital, he worked as a Senior Business Analyst at Macquarie Bank for a couple of years.
