BNP Paribas Securities Services appointed Patrick Hayes as its newest of multinational head, whose jurisdiction will cover a panel of countries including the UK, Middle East and South Africa, according to a recent BNP manifest.

Mr. Hayes joins BNP Paribas Securities Services from State Street, having worked there for a lengthy period. He will step into his new role at the end of the month and will be reporting to José Placido, the Global Head of Client Development at BNP Paribas Securities Services – in this capacity he will be based out of London.

The new appointment follows on the heels of the retirement of James McAleenan, which consequently paved the way for the hire of Hayes. As the multinational head, Mr. Hayes will be tasked with managing BNP Paribas Securities Services’ across the aforementioned regions, helping foster the bank’s growth targets. The appointment also comes amidst a period of lagging revenues and profits for global lenders, specifically in such locales as the UK.

Prior to BNP, Mr. Hayes worked as the Managing Director of International Fund Services Europe at State Street since 2007, part of a tenure that spanned over twenty-five years. Over this period he held multiple senior level roles including Head of Global Markets Operations, among others.

According to Mr. Placido in a recent statement on the appointment: “I am delighted to welcome Patrick to BNP Paribas. Patrick is a securities services industry specialist with a long and distinguished track record. He joins us at an exciting time as we continue to grow our market share and capitalize on a strong momentum, in the UK in particular.”
