BNP Paribas Asset Management (‘BNPP AM’) has promoted Sophie Lugiez as head of global trading function (‘GTF’), according to market sources
She worked in dealing services at the company prior to her promotion.
Paris-based, Lugiez reports to Rob Gambi, chief investment officer at the firm.
She also joins BNPP AM’s Investment Leadership team and Business Committee.
Lugiez took on her new role in early May, sources said.
She will be responsible for all aspects of BNPP AM’s GTF, including trading, foreign exchange hedging, cash management and managing sell-side relationships.
Lugiez joined BNP Paribas Group in 1995 and has held a number of roles within Legal, BNP Paribas Wealth Management and BNP Paribas Securities Services (‘BP2S’), in France and Italy.
She moved to BNP Paribas Dealing Services in 2014 as COO and deputy CEO, and has been actively involved in the creation of GTF, leading strategic projects including recently Brexit market readiness and trading automation.
Lugiez additionally brings extensive experience of risk control and management of regulated entities to her new position.
Her career began as a lawyer at Arthur Andersen in Paris in 1991.
