Global investment group and asset managing leader, BNY Mellon, has made a key appointment in its regulatory unit, adding Robert Allan as its Head of Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Compliance Surveillance with immediate effect, Finance Magnates has learned.
In his new role, Mr. Allan will be based out of London, where he will help steer the group’s regulatory focus. The position is his first outside the realm of CIBC World Markets, which he worked at for a period of nearly eighteen years, dating back to 1998.
During his time at CIBC World Markets, Mr. Allan worked as its executive director based out of London, with regular secondments to Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Toronto. He played a pivotal role in the group’s desk management, including compliance, Regulation issues, and monitoring, according to information made public on his Linkedin profile.
The appointment is the first at BNY Mellon since the promotion of John Weir as the head of its freshly launched Application Platform and Services Group (APSG), a diverse unit of the company's Client Technology Solutions organization, earlier this year. Mr. Weir has since focused on the enabling and development of technologies in a bid to help augment the productivity of application developers, namely the company's new NEXEN digital platform.
