BNY Mellon Secures Subhankar Sinha as Head of Blockchain

BNY Mellon has appointed a new Head of Blockchain , the company announced this Tuesday, with Subhankar Sinha being the latest addition to the American firm’s growing Digital team.

Sinha will be based in the company’s operations in New York and will be in charge of its blockchain-related initiatives. Specifically, as the Head of Blockchain, he will focus on developing partnerships with startups, accelerators, incubators, and business partners.

This is in order to drive enterprise innovation, as well as to build ecosystems for all BNY Mellon’s blockchain initiatives, the statement said.

Sinha Joins BNY Mellon to Help Drive Innovative Client Solutions

Before joining BNY Mellon, Sinha’s career focus has been on the impact of blockchain, Tokenization on lending as well as securitization. Over the past several years he has collaborated with companies of various sizes to develop blockchain use cases.

His most recent position before joining the US bank was at Nabartham LLC - a company Sinha founded. Through the company, he collaborated with startups, investors, and enterprises to help “ translate an Idea for new business into Numbers and Action,” his LinkedIn states.

According to the statement, Sinha founded Nabartham LLC to advise other startups on: “strategic partnerships, ecosystem governance and product-market fit for blockchain products.”

Commenting on the appointment, Roman Regelman, BNY Mellon Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Digital said: “Subhankar has proven himself both as a blockchain thought leader and results-oriented tactician. His addition to our team will build upon existing digital capabilities and help drive new and innovative client solutions.”

Before founding Nabartham, Sinha spent 18 years at PwC, the largest professional services firm in the world. According to his LinkedIn, he originally joined the firm in August of 1999.

Up until the time he left the firm in June of last year, he held various consultant positions. Concurrently, in June of 2016 Sinha was appointed to a director position, where he co-founded and co-led that firm’s blockchain consulting practice in the United States.
