Borsa Istanbul has a key vacancy to fill, after Muammer Cakir, the Exchange ’s Head of Derivatives Market – VIOP, announced that he would be parting ways with the exchange group with immediate effect, Finance Magnates has learned.
Mr. Cakir originally joined Borsa Istanbul back in April 2015 and has served for the past year as its Head of Derivatives Market – VIOP. During his tenure, the exchange has seen derivatives trading swell over the past year, as well as the strong performance of other key trading metrics.
Mr. Cakir is no stranger to the derivatives realm, having specialized in the area for over a decade. Prior to joining Borsa Istanbul he worked as the Executive Director of WestLB AG in London, a role he held for nearly seven years. Moreover, he also worked as the Head of Strategic Solutions & Derivatives, Treasury at Akbank.
He has also held a number of senior board positions, including a stint on the board of the Turkish Derivatives Exchange (VOB), dating back to 2004, according to information made public on his Linkedin profile.
It is currently unknown where his next destination is following his departure from Borsa Istanbul.
