The global financial services firm has been making a plethora of hires already this year, namely in regard to its fixed income and equities trading desks. The equities space has been highly active in Europe and the UK, especially in regard to the upcoming Brexit as domestic markets look for cues from the government. Mr. Martin comes over to BTIG from Barclays, having worked previously as Director of the lender’s equity sales and trading unit.
Mr. Martin’s hire follows on the heels of a recent tranche of appointments at BTIG’s NY office, which brought in Matthew Brown, Kurt Krestinski, and John Santonastaso back in late May. All three individuals joined an already expanding team that is led by the joint force of Drew Doscher and Darren Haines, Co-Heads of the Fixed Income Credit Group at BTIG.
The group has took efforts to bolster its trading unit in April, which saw the appointment of Anthony Guido, Steven Jones, Jay Sommer, and Jeffrey Walsh as Managing Directors for its New York office. This round of appointments was predated by the addition of Filip Skala and John Curley who were hired to the transition management and global portfolio and ETF trading group this year.
