The European fintech firm, BUX announced the hiring of Niek van Rens as the new Chief Operating Officer on Thursday, thus strengthening its leadership team.

This is one of the several critical appointments made by the Amsterdam-headquartered company in recent months. The firm onboarded Alvaro Vidal as the country manager in Spain, which came only a month after the appointment of Dan Zbijowski as Chief Marketing Officer.

Additionally, BUX strengthened its European presence by acquiring a Cypriot license earlier this year and hiring Jean-Raphael Nahas as the Managing Director of the CFDs operations through the Cypriot entity.

The latest appointment of van Rens is strategic as he brings significant knowledge and expertise to strengthen European operations and contribute to further growth.

“In my new role, together with my team, I want to focus on operational efficiency that can facilitate explosive growth, and to innovate further in order to better serve customer needs,” van Rens said in a statement.

An Experienced Executive

Vidal brings more than two decades of experience to his new role. Before joining BUX, he worked at ABN AMRO Clearing for almost ten years as the Global Head of Innovation. Even in that role, he worked with BUX on several projects, mostly to develop the fractional investing infrastructure and build the commission-free model.

Moreover, he headed Holland Clearing House for a couple of years as the CEO. Further, he worked with several other financial companies in various executive capacities.

“After working with Niek for many years, we are delighted to welcome him to the BUX team,” said the CEO of BUX, Yorick Naeff.

“BUX has entered a new phase of explosive growth, and it’s vital our operations run with maximum efficiency. With Niek's in-depth knowledge of execution and post trade, I’m confident he will be a driving force for innovation and growth at BUX.”
