CAIM Secures Alan Cubbon as Head of Quantitative Strategies, Risk, Analytics

Crown Agents Investment Management (CAIM) has secured Alan Cubbon as Head of Quantitative Strategies, Risk and Analytics , effective from February 2021.

According to a press release shared with Finance Magnates, Alan Cubbon, a finance veteran in Risk Management and quantitative research, has been appointed by Crown Agents Investment Management, a UK regulated institutional fixed income and multi-asset manager based in London, as its new Head of Quantitative Strategies, Risk and Analytics (QRA). His role in the company is to lead and strengthen CAIM’s Risk and Performance division.

With over a third of a century’s experience in quantitative finance and risk management, Cubbon's role is crucial to CAIM. He will bolster its efforts to provide investment solutions, asset allocation, advisory and product development for its network. Moreover, he has worked with central banks and other official institutional clients, which are central to CAIM’s markets.

Cubbon’s Vocational Background

Previous to the announcement, Cubbon spent more than a quarter of a century at J.P. Morgan. The experience of working on both buy and sell sides gave him exceptional insight into risk-related concerns. Additionally, having taken on the role of Investment Director for Fixed Income at JP Morgan Asset Management, he was directly in charge of overseeing the risk management process for portfolios managed in London. Further, he organised and delivered the training on risk and quantitative analysis to the central bank clients.

Soon after, he progressed to J.P. Morgan Securities. In this position, he led a team divided into two that were located in London and New York. Also, he was the principal developer of the US Treasury trading system for a key central bank client. This assisted the institution a great deal as it was critical to its activities.

At Trinity CapM, Cubbon became a Founding Partner and Head of Research. In this role, he was responsible for the development and daily operations of asset allocation and risk management software. Thus, it would underpin Trinity’s process of forecasting and investment in fixed income markets. Finally, between 2016 to 2020, Alan joined FTSE Russell as its Managing Director.

A Newly Created QRA Team

Commenting on the announcement Roberts Grava, CEO of Crown Agents Investment Management, said: “We are delighted to welcome Alan at such a key moment for CAIM, and have every confidence that his extensive experience in risk management and quantitative research will strengthen our business as we move CAIM on into its next exciting stage. I am confident that Alan’s personal motivation and work ethic will be an attribute to our newly created QRA team and undoubtedly contribute towards our longer-term plans to strengthen our offering.”

“I’m thrilled to be joining CAIM at such an exciting juncture in the firm’s growth trajectory. I look forward to working with the strong leadership team, including the newly-appointed CEO, Roberts Grava, and leveraging my expertise to deliver on CAIM’s strategic growth objectives. I am sure it will be a fruitful year ahead,” Cubbon adds.
