Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. has announced its latest senior hire, on-boarding Jon Yalmokas as its newest Global Head of Prime Brokerage. The hire of Mr. Yalmokas reflects Cantor Fitzgerald’s latest emphasis on the prime brokerage space, part of an expanding services suite.

Mr. Yalmokas is no stranger to the prime brokerage industry, having worked in the banking space for over a decade. As one of the industry’s top bankers, he joins Cantor Fitzgerald from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, working previously as its Head of Americas Prime Brokerage.

Anshu Jain, President of Cantor Fitzgerald, L.P., commented on the hire: "I am pleased to welcome Jon to Cantor Fitzgerald. Throughout his career, Jon has developed a successful track record of growing some of Wall Street's most respected Prime Brokerage businesses, making him a valuable asset to the Firm."

In his new role, Mr Yalmokas will be based out of New York, and he steps into the role with immediate effect. His mandate will see him focus on hedge funds, and work to augment Cantor’s product suite and market penetration.

"Jon will cultivate relationships with leading hedge funds and Leverage Cantor's strong platform of products and services to take our Prime Brokerage business to the next level,” explained Mr. Jain.

Mr. Yalmokas worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch since 2011. He was originally slated to shore up Royal Bank of Canada’s (RBC) equity financing business this fall, though ultimately pivoted to Cantor Fitzgerald.

Additional roles prior to his time at Bank of America Merrill Lynch include stints as the Head of Financing Sales, Capital Introduction and Consulting at UBS Investment Bank, among others.
