Capital Index, an FCA regulated brokerage specializing in CFDs and spread betting, announced on Tuesday that it has appointed Daniel Gladding as a director. According to the regulatory filing, Gladding’s new role became effective on August 21, 2018.

Gladding has more than a decade worth of experience in the financial industry, with a focus on Risk Management . According to his LinkedIn account, Gladding has been with Capital Index since March this year. He holds the role of Global Head of Risk as well as being a director.

Before joining the online brokerage, Gladding was a Vice President for Risk Management and Quantitative Analytics at GAIN Capital, a foreign exchange company. He worked for the broker from March 2012 up until November 2017.

Gladding has also been the Manager of GFT Global Markets UK Limited’s binary desk. Gladding worked with the forex broker for three years from January 2009 to March 2012.

According to his LinkedIn account, Gladding’s first position was at IG, a leading online trading company. He joined the firm in January 2004 as a Market Maker, a position he held for almost five years.

Having spent most of his career in Quantitative Analytics, Gladding is also the Founder of the training school Step Function, which was established in 2016. Step Function provides training in Python, Data Analysis and Data Science for individuals and corporates. The courses are based in London and are available all year round.

The establishment of Step Function represents Gladding’s shift into education, his statement on LinkedIn says. Between 1998 to 2001 he attended Christ Church College in Oxford where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) where he majored in Physics.

Gladding is the latest hire for Capital Index

Gladding is not the first employee from GAIN Capital to move to Capital Index. Earlier this year, Finance Magnates reported that Kathleen Brooks, the research director for FOREX.com and City Index, launched a financial analysis consultancy firm called Minerva Analysis. According to information made public on her LinkedIn profile, Kathleen joined Capital Index as a consultant in July.
