BNY Mellon Markets has appointed Dan Watkins as its newest Head. He will oversee operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), following the retirement of Richard Gill, who will be relinquishing the role.
Mr. Gill has served as a vital component of BNY Mellon Markets for over two decades. His departure will pave the way for the appointment of Mr. Watkins, who is to succeed Gill at the end of March.
Succession Plan
In his new role Mr. Watkins will be managing the growth of the group amidst increasingly peaking client demand as well as a dynamic regulatory environment that is ushering in several market structure changes. Mr. Watkins will also be working alongside Gill until the end of the month in order to help facilitate a smooth transition - his official appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
Mr. Watkins joins BNY Mellon Markets from JPMorgan having also worked at other groups such as Jardine Fleming and LatentZero. In this capacity he will be based out of London, reporting to Michelle Neal.
According to Michelle Neal, President of BNY Mellon Markets, in a statement on the appointment: βDan will play a central role in further optimising the Markets solution set to meet the evolving needs of clients. His diverse experience and deep understanding of the pressures and opportunities facing all market participants will be particularly valuable as we intensify our client focus.β
