EBS, ICAP's electronic FX division, has announced today that Darryl Hooker joined its executive management team. Mr. Hooker was appointed as the Head of Strategic Currency Initiatives and will work directly under Gil Mandelzis, EBS’s Chief Executive Officer.
According to the company, Mr. Hooker has played a vital role in establishing and growing EBS’s presence in Russia, which most likely contributed to the decision to promote him. In 2007 he established and now chairs the International Ruble Settlement Forum, which is held twice annually in Moscow or London.
Mr. Mandelzis, the CEO, commented in the announcement: “Darryl has been successfully leading several of our strategic initiatives, most notably our great success with the ruble. His leadership within the firm is tremendously valued and his energy, enthusiasm and knowledge will be an essential factor as we continue to deliver innovative solutions to the FX industry.”
Prior to his new position, Mr. Hooker spent 15 years working with EBS and other ICAP subsidiaries based in London, and has extensive experience in both emerging markets and foreign Exchange . He was Head of Emerging and Growth Markets responsible for developing and implementing the firm's strategy in key growth areas. He was also previously Head of Emerging Markets Sales and served as a Public Affairs Committee member for five years.
Earlier in his career Mr. Hooker held a variety of senior positions with Reuters and M.W. Marshall in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Africa, the Middle East and the United Kingdom.
Mr. Hooker said about the promotion: “I am proud and delighted to join the executive team at such an exciting time for EBS. I am thrilled to be taking on this leadership role within EBS and am looking forward to working closely with the rest of the EBS team as we continue to develop new initiatives and add products for new currencies.”
