Wirex announced that it has named Diana Carrasco-Vime as its first Non-Executive Director, effective from July 2021.

Finance Magnates recently learned in a press release that Diana Carasco-Vime, a veteran with two decades of international experience in financial services, has been appointed by Wirex, a fiat and crypto Payments platform, to be its first Non-Executive Director.

In the role, she will Leverage her experience for Wirex to become the go-to digital payments platform for everyday users. Part of her responsibilities will require her to advance Wirex towards its next stage of growth in the UK market. Further, she will act as an independent advisor to support and advise governance and strategy development.

Carrasco-Vime brings extensive international experience in innovation for consumer and commercial financial services. Her experience has taken her through all forms of payments and banking. This includes product design, business development, public policy, risk, compliance and governance. Additionally, her expertise covers UK and EU strategies within the digital payments and banking industries.

During her career, she has held a number of senior positions in various companies such as ServiRed, Visa, HSBC and Lloyds. Moreover, she has utilised her skills in several advisory roles with industry bodies, regulators and private companies. One area she takes great pride in is working with the European Financial Coalition to counter child abuse online.

A World-Class Digital Payments Platform

Wirex has built its reputation on constant innovation within the crypto sector, and this extends further towards equality and diversity. Carrasco-Vime is the first woman on the Board. Thus, this new post coincides with Wirex's goal to motivate everyone to join the crypto sector. She brings her passion for diversity as Wirex approaches the start of its second 'Women in Crypto' campaign.

Pavel Matveev, CEO and Co-Founder, explained that: “Carrasco-Vime's hire has come at an integral point in Wirex's development. With nearly 4 million customers and plans to release more game-changing products and features, her knowledge and expertise will be vital in ensuring that we scale-sensibly and suitably to continue providing a world-class digital payments platform.”

“At a time where technology and data are allowing such a revolution in financial services from every possible angle, there is a risk that companies jump into projects and experiments just because they are 'the next big thing', or because they feel they have to follow their competitors, without necessarily considering if it is what their customers actually need. What appealed most to me is that Wirex's approach has consumers in mind - demystifying crypto and bringing it to everyday life, making it accessible for everyone,” Carrasco-Vime stated.
