Earthport Appoints Michael Steinharter as Chief Commercial Officer

Earthport, a payment network for cross-border transactions, has appointed Michael Steinharter as its newest Chief Commercial Officer in London with immediate effect, according to an Earthport statement.

The appointment of Mr. Steinharter will also see a transition of management responsibilities from Earthport’s Executive Director, Sajeev Viswanathan, to Mr. Steinharter – the decision follows Mr. Viswanathan deciding to step down from his positon.

Mr. Steinharter joins Earthport with over two decades of experience in the financial services sector, including senior level roles at several leading groups. He most recently served in a number of chairmanships, as well as the Vice President & WW General Manager, Banking & Capital Markets Industry at CSC, among other roles.

Mr. Viswanathan will be relinquishing his position after helping Earthport establish a global presence across various regions in the emerging markets (EM) space. Despite the shift, he will remain with Earthport to help the group launch and build on our presence in India over the next several months, which coincides with a recent approval with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)’s approval for operating outbound cross border payment services.
