Data Center company Equinix announced this Monday that it has yet again expanded its team with a new addition, appointing Michael Montoya as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).

The addition of Montoya is the latest effort by the global interconnection company to bolster its commitment to security, according to the statement released today. As the CISO, he will be in charge of leading the firm’s global cybersecurity risk program.
During his career, Montoya has gathered extensive experience overseeing global cybersecurity programs. His most recent role before joining Equinix was the CISO and Senior Vice President of Digital Realty.
Montoya to develop Equinix security program
According to the statement, Montoya will focus on developing Equinix’s information security program and planning its future cybersecurity roadmap, among other roles, He will work closely with the company’s product development, Operations, IT, compliance and business continuity teams.
Commenting on the appointment, Milind Wagle, Chief Information Officer, Equinix said: "We are extremely pleased to have Michael join our leadership team. Michael is a recognized security leader with deep expertise in information security, risk governance, data privacy and technology deployment."

Before he was at Digital Realty, Montoya spent two years at Microsoft, where he held various roles. This includes the Chief Cybersecurity Advisor. In this position, he led initiatives with the aim of developing and deliver Microsoft Cloud security products and services.
