Amercanex (American Cannabis Exchange) has brought in a pair of ex-NYMEX executives to strengthen its operations, according to an Amercanex statement.

Richard Schaeffer, the former NYMEX Chairman, and David Greenberg, the ex-NYMEX Board Member, have collectively joined the Amercanex team. Mr. Schaeffer comes to Amercanex with nearly three decades of experience in the financial services industry, having held a number of senior level roles over his career. These include stints at the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), ABN AMRO, and the Montreal Stock Exchange . Currently he is also a member of Green Tree’s Board of Directors.

Alternatively, Mr. Greenberg has landed at Amercanex after a sizable body of achievements as well, including 25 years in multiple trading venues. He most recently served as a member of the NYMEX Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Currently he also works on the Boards of the 9/11 Tribute Center, Greenberg Capital LLC, and Sterling Commodities Corp.

According to Mr. Schaeffer in a recent statement on the appointment, “I am looking forward to being a member of the board and using my experience to build a team that will ensure a trusted and transparent market for cannabis,.”

“I‘m excited to be part of the team that’s on the cutting edge and understands that as the cannabis industry expands a regulated market place will ensure its future,“ added Mr. Greenberg.

“We are honored and excited about Richard and David joining our Team. Both of them bring Amercanex more than a half a century combined of exchange and financial services experience that we believe will prove invaluable with helping us achieve both our short term, as well as long term goals of expanding the American Cannabis Exchange footprint nationwide in a regulatory environment that we believe both state governments along with Wall Street participants will find familiar and comforting,” reiterated Steve Janjic, CEO of Amercanex in an accompanying statement.

Late last month, Amercanex embarked on a strategic partnership with Dixie Brands Inc., providing Dixie’s Affiliates by state, the rights to conduct wholesale distribution of the Dixie Elixirs and Edibles line.

The American Cannabis Exchange (Amercanex) is an Electronic Cannabis Marketplace (ECM), offering a comprehensive suite of tools and solutions. One of the draws of the exchange is its utilization of a transparent, neutral and non-manipulated free-market.
