One of the fastest growing electronic communications networks ECNs for foreign exchange trading lately, FastMatch, has announced that the company on-boarded a well respected industry veteran as Director of Sales. Gareth Thomas, who will be based in New York is joining the company from BGC (Mint), where he ran the FX desk for the past year. He has been actively engaged in the foreign exchange industry since 1989 and will begin his work at the firm on the 3rd of October.
Thomas will be responsible for marketing FastMatch products to hedge funds, banks, brokers and asset managers. With over 28 years of experience in FX, he has worked long stints at NatWest Markets and Credit Lyonnais as FX Dealer before joining GFT Global Markets in 2005. He spent at the company 8 years as Director of Global Execution and Market Making.
FastMatch is continuing its effort in hiring top industry personnel to continue on boarding clients as the firm is rapidly growing its client base. Since the end of last year, the company has been actively working on expanding its team in London. The ECN's trading volumes have been growing steadily since the SNB debacle in 2015, when the ECN lost market share due to FXCM's FastMatch ownership stake.
Since then, the firm's CEO Galinin has undertaken substantial measures to boost the offering to clients, including symmetrical last look. The efforts have paid off as the company reported last month its second highest month of volumes after the post-Brexit record it set earlier this year in June.
