Brian Ager took on a role in FX business development at US-based brokerage firm BTIG, according to market sources.
BTIG manages securities such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and other investment products. The firm employs over 600 industry professionals across 18 offices throughout the US, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
Ager was President, Foreign Exchange, and Digital Currency, Trading and Risk at Bakkt and President at the Institutional Foreign Exchange Division at Rosenthal Collins Group (RCG) for two years from 2017. He joined Bakkt following the acquisition of RCG in early 2019 but left the firm six months later.
Ager had joined RCG as a Director FX Sales and Trading in New York in 2009 and moved to a similar position at RJ O'Brien (RJO) two years later, where he spent almost six years.
At RCG, Ager was driving the expansion of the firm's FX desk. He was also responsible for refining Liquidity for RCG's pricing engine by managing liquidity provider relationships.
At RJO, Ager and his team executed spot, Swaps , forwards, and EFP's for a global client base.
Citi, RBC, and AIG
Ager's career began at AIG London's FX spot desk in 1994. He spent more than a decade in various roles at the insurance firm, in which he was responsible for expanding the firm's global client base. Before leaving AIG in 2000, Ager worked in FX institutional sales at the company's head office.
He also held senior positions in FX institutional sales at Citibank and RBC in New York between 2000 and 2006.
