Commenting on the appointment, Samantha Roady, President of Retail Trading at GAIN, said: "We are very pleased to welcome Alex to the GAIN leadership team. His deep industry knowledge and extensive experience developing and leading commercial strategies in the Asia Pacific region will be extremely valuable as we look to scale our key markets in the region, including Singapore, Australia and Japan, as well as develop our business in fast growing, emerging markets in Southeast Asia.”

Howard ends his eight-year tenure at IG Group

Most recently, Howard was the Head of APAC for IG Group. Initially, he joined the online broker in 2010 as Head of Operations, before being promoted to Vice President in 2012 and then on to Head of IG, Japan in 2014, before his most recent position at the firm.

Howard also commented on his new role: "GAIN has made tremendous progress over the last few years growing its retail business in the US, UK and Europe, and I look forward to continuing to build on that momentum in the Asia Pacific region, which is a dynamic and diverse region undergoing rapid transformation in retail financial services. There is substantial opportunity for expansion of GAIN's business in the region and we believe it will be a key contributor to the firm's future growth."

Howard has also worked at BGC Partners. Between 2000 and 2003 he attended the University of Cambridge, where he gained a master's degree in history.
