BNY Mellon has hired Geoffrey Yu as a senior EMEA strategist at its London office this month, according to market sources.
Yu spent almost 14 years at UBS where he began his career as an FX strategy intern in 2005.
The executive director, CIO and head of investment office at UBS Wealth Management managed a London-based team at the bank, which specialises in UK-themed research content and asset allocation recommendations to the UBS Wealth Management Global Chief Investment Office.
Additionally, Yu served as an investment strategist for European UHNW clients, providing cross asset UHNW investment and trading ideas.
Prior to joining UBS Wealth Management in 2016, Yu served as a senior G10 FX strategist at UBS Investment Bank for a decade in Zurich, London and Singapore.
BNY Mellon: Supporting employees and communities during Covid-19
The bank initiated extensive Covid-19 relief efforts through all facets of the organization.
These include philantrophic donations to the hardest-hit areas in support of global public health infrastructure through non-profit partners, commitments to local hospitals and the support of local organizations that provide front-line and direct relief in the Covid-19 outbreak, including first responders, healthcare, transit and other front-line workers.
BNY Mellon initiated the Covid-19 Response and Relief Campaign. Through May 15, 2020, the firm is making a 2:1 match for employee donations, up to $10,000 per employee.
The bank also provides 600 iPads to the New York City Health and Hospital System. BNY Mellon’s technology team enables Covid-19 patients to connect with loved ones while they are isolating at the hospital.
