Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) has appointed longtime company veteran, Lucia Arienti, as the newest Head of its Prime Brokerage consulting team in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), according to a recent Reuters report.
Ms. Arienti’s new appointment has been tendered with immediate effect, capping off what has been the latest chapter of a career at Goldman Sachs that has already spanned over fourteen years, all of which were spent in the lender’s London branch. This is not her first foray into Goldman’s Prime Brokerage unit, as she has previously worked in its Prime Brokerage sales unit during her tenure with the group.

In addition, she will be replacing William Douglas, who parted ways with Goldman Sachs last year to set up a European credit-focused hedge fund, Caius Capital, serving as its Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Partner. Ms. Arienti was previously promoted to the role of Managing Director at Goldman back in late 2012.
Goldman Sachs also made headlines this week when it lost one of its key foreign exchange (FX) professionals, Jonathan Powell, who became the latest key executive to move eastward. Mr. Powell had spent over three years at Goldman, before making the move. Notably, he was one of the more high-value claimants against Commerzbank in a post-financial crisis case against the German lender, which was denying bonus Payments to about 20 of the former employees of Dresdner bank.
