ICE Appoints Joanne Rowe as the Corporate Risk Officer

Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) announced earlier today in New York that is has appointed Joanne Rowe as the Corporate Risk Officer.

Rowe is currently the Corporate Risk Officer for ICE’s North American Exchanges. She has been with the exchange and Clearing House operator since 2013. In her new role, she will be leading the team which manages the company’s global enterprise Risk Management program and related functions.

With the latest appointment, Rowe is succeeding Kevin McClear. As Finance Magnates reported, McClear was appointed as the President of ICE Clear US. McClear, in turn, was replacing Hester Serafini, who was appointed to the role of President of ICE Clear Europe.

Commenting on the appointment, Scott Hill, Chief Financial Officer of Intercontinental Exchange said in the statement: “ICE’s unique corporate culture, for the entirety of its twenty years, has always been a balance of entrepreneurial problem solving and prudent risk management as operators of a complex network of global exchanges and clearinghouses.

“Joanne has made strong contributions at critical junctures of our growth, from the integration of NYSE Euronext into ICE, to helping to build a world class enterprise risk management foundation which, in her new role, she will continue to expand and strengthen under her outstanding leadership.”

Rowe joined ICE after NYSE Euronext acquisition

Rowe joined ICE after the acquisition of NYSE Euronext. During her time with the exchange operator, and throughout her broader career before ICE, she has worked in roles ranging from the fields of audit and enterprise risk management.

In particular, she began as an audit manager in the UK Ministry of Justice before moving to BNP Paribas Fortis UK. She also served as Managing Director of Audit Services for the London International Financial Futures Exchange (LIFFE) and Euronext.

Whilst holding the position of CRO of ICE’s North American Exchanges, Rowe also served as the interim CRO for ICE Clear Europe. Prior to her current position, she was the Senior Director of Internal Audit for ICE North America.
