Rakesh Bhasin has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director of the Board of IG Group Holdings, the company announced this Tuesday, with his new role taking effect on the 6th of July 2020.
In addition to being named as a Non-Executive Director, Bhasin has also become a member of the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Committee of the trading provider's Board. He brings with him a wealth of experience across technology and global markets. He is a Non-Executive Director for a portfolio of companies.
Commenting on the appointment, Company Chairman Mike McTighe said in the statement: "Following an extensive, externally facilitated search I am delighted to welcome Rakesh to the Board.
“He is a highly experienced Non-Executive Director with significant experience in the Asia Pacific region. Rakesh will complement the range of skills of our existing Board members."
Bhasin was the CEO of Colt Technology Services
During his career, which spans across decades, Bhasin was the CEO and a member of the Board of Colt Technology Services, which was acquired by Fidelity Investments in August of 2015.
He took on the leading role in December of 2006 and completed his tenure when the company was acquired by Fidelity. At the same time, he was the Non-Executive Chairman of KVH and Non-Executive Chairman of Market Prizm.

In his career, Bhasin also worked at AT&T, where he held a number of senior positions. This saw him working as the Head of AT&T Asia Pacific's managed network services business and President, AT&T Japan Ltd.
Currently, Bhasin is the Chairman of CMC Networks, an investment company of the Carlyle Group based in Africa, in addition to his new role at IG Group. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from George Washington University.
