ING announced that it has secured Marnix van Stiphout as its Chief Operations Officer (COO), Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) and is a member of the Management Board Banking, effective from 1 September 2021.
According to an official press release shared with Finance Magnates, Marnix van Stiphout, a Dutch financial veteran with more than twenty years of experience, has been appointed by ING, a Dutch multinational banking and financial services corporation headquartered in Amsterdam, as its COO, CTO and is a member of the Management Board Banking.
Van Stiphout will succeed Roel Louwhoff, who stepped down from the Management Board Banking on 1 August 2021. Also, Van Stiphout brings broad banking experience with extensive expertise in operations and transformation programmes across Wholesale and Retail Banking. Further, he is proficient in orchestrating, streamlining and improving global and local processes, including for Know Your Customer (KYC) ).
Turning Back to Look at Van Stiphout’s Career
Prior to the announcement, Van Stiphout has been serving ING as its COO of Retail Banking since last October. Before this, he took on the role of COO of Wholesale Banking. For almost eight years he was responsible for the day-to-day operations and global transformation. This included simplifying the organisation and applying technology in the design and implementation of a cross-border customer experience.
Back in late 2012, ING Bank recruited him as Global Head Commercial Banking Value Chains / Head of Financial Markets Netherlands. He took on the challenges of the role over the next nine years accomplishing many targets.
Originally, Van Stiphout’s career began at ING in 1998 where he spent the next fourteen years. He started in Global Equity Markets Sales and Research in London. Then, in 2008, he became the Global Head of Value Chain Management for ING Financial Markets.
