London-headquartered asset management firm Janus Henderson has hired Matthew Peron as Director of Equity Research, replacing current director Carmel Wellso who is taking a sabbatical, the firm announced today.
Janus Henderson was formed from the all-stock Merger of Janus Capital Group and Henderson Group, which completed in May 2017. The firm offers a range of financial products to individuals, intermediary advisors, and institutional investors globally under the trade name Janus Henderson Investors.
Janus Henderson Group oversaw assets under management (AUM) increase to US$374.8 billion at the end of 2019, despite seeing a year of net outflows due to rallying markets.
Support for Denver office
Based in the company’s Denver office, Peron, who was most recently Chief Investment Officer at New York-headquartered investment management firm City National Rochdale, will report to the firm’s co-Head of Equities George Maris.
Prior to taking up his role at City National Rochdale, Peron was Head of Global Equities at Northern Trust for more than 12 years.
Marris had joined Janus Henderson nine years ago also from Northern Trust, where he worked as a Senior Portfolio Manager.
Wellso, who spent 13 years in her current role at the firm, will work closely with Peron until she begins her sabbatical in July. She has yet to decide in what capacity she will return to Janus Henderson, according to the company.
As director of equity research, Peron will oversee the firm’s centralized equity research function and will be the portfolio manager for all research strategies.
