In their new roles both Mr. Cullen and Mr. Chandler will be based out of London, where they will be reporting to Simen Ebbesen, Marex Spectron’s Head of Physical Tankers. The two brokers will also be working in tandem with Nils Arnesen, the group’s Head of Tanker Freight Derivatives.
The joint appointments will be tendered by Q1 2017, with the newly created unit focusing on clean petroleum products in the Black Sea, Mediterranean, Baltic, and Continental markets. In particular, Marex Spectron’s investment in physical ship broking will aim to help complement its existing tanker derivatives team, which saw a string of recent hires.
According to Jeremy Elliott, Managing Director and Co-Head of Energy at Marex Spectron, in a recent statement on the hires and creation of the new unit: “We are very excited that Dave and Archie are joining Marex Spectron. The move into clean petroleum broking is part of a broader strategy to develop our physical energy business and we are actively looking for further opportunities to invest.”
